Court legalese, often combined with malapropisms and slips of the tongue in exchanges between judges, lawyers, plaintiffs, defendants and eccentric jurors, is gleefully quoted here Readers will undoubtedly cull their own favorites from this irreverent sampling of 'justice' in action. " Perennially on the “Best Lawyers in America” list, Charles M. Sevilla has a private law practice in San Diego. He is the author of Wilkes on Trial and Wilkes: His Life and Crimes and a columnist for Forum.

In America's courtooms, the verdict is laughter.

Sit back and enjoy a collection of verbatim exchanges from the halls of justice, where defendants and plaintiffs, lawyers and witnesses, juries and judges, collide to produce memorably insane comedy.

A: You mumbled on the first part of that and I couldn't understand what you were saying. Could you repeat the question?

Q: I mumbled, did I? Well, we'll just ask the court reporter to read back what I said. She didn't indicate any problem understanding what I said, so obviously she understood every word. We'll just have her read my question back and find out if there was any mumbling going on. Madam reporter, would you be so kind?

Court Reporter: Mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble.

very funny! This book is hilarious! Some of the snippets have a bit too much legal jargon, and it is a little easy to get confused if you are not familiar with normal court proceedings, but for the most part it is easy to understand. I've been meaning to buy this book for a year after seeing excerpts and I'm so glad I did!A Huge Disappointment Had heard a few excerpts quoted from this book, which attempted to convey the impression it would make for enjoyable, humorous reading.About all I actually found in its pages featured long, boring descriptions of cases depicting ego-maniacal lawyers and prosecutors hurling malicious, obscenity-laden insults at one another or the Court.Don't Buy Kindle Version It is amazing to me that with the several reviews noting that the electronic (Kindle) version of this book is incompatible with Kindle (numerous pages or line are cutoff or missing) that Amazon is still selling this edition. But I guess that no one at Amazon ever reads these reviews or does anything about them. The content of the book is, as at least one other reviewer has noted, not uniformly (or nearly) as funny as the excerpts, but the book would still be worth its price if it were readable. The Kindle edition is not readable.
